Mahirah is a dedicated medical doctor with seven years of experience. She is the medical lead in The Wave Main House and connects daily with our young people.
She graduated with an MBBS Hons qualification from Monash University in 2016 and completed her mandatory two-year internship year locally in Malaysia. Mahirah specialises in holistic care, focusing on the interplay between physical and mental health.
Driven by a commitment to hone her expertise, she relocated to Adelaide, Australia in 2019, where she completed a two-year residency in general training, followed by a year of prevocational psychiatry training, where she solidified her keen interest in pursuing mental health as a specialty. Her journey continued in Sydney, where she joined the RANZCP-accredited psychiatry training program for two years before making the purposeful decision to return to her home country, Malaysia.
Throughout her career, she has always been guided by her passion for the mental health and well-being of children and youth. She believes profoundly that nurturing young minds not only brings immediate transformation but also sets the foundation for generational change. Her work is driven by a deep-seated belief that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and she views her role in fostering that potential as both a privilege and a responsibility.
Mahirah is a firm favourite with our young adults in The Main House. Looking after young people with the highest care needs in Indigo and TMS is a priority for Mahirah. Meeting with our young people every day provides Mahirah with a viewpoint that informs treatment planning and precision interventions. Mahirah works closely with Mahisha (The Two M’s) in planning the day-to-day care for each young person and planning our risk assessments both on and off-site.
