The Wave's Education Consulting Division

Our education consulting division supports young people in accessing the best education environment globally.Ā

We clinically assess, treat, and place young people into a school or educational institution that we have personally visited and reviewed. Our team considers boarding and day options, levels of pastoral care, ADHD and ASD placements and other key characteristics.

We work collaboratively with families to find the most suitable environment for a young person’s needs.

Collaboration and precision

Visiting and Reviewing Schools

Within our consulting division, we collaborate with a selection of schools that we have visited, reviewed and approved as part of our placement service.Ā

We visit schools in person, gaining a precise and comprehensive insight into the types of support, programs, and expertise they offer.

Each visit is undertaken by our clinical team, who apply their experience and expertise to the reviewing process. We also partner with global experts in the area throughout our consulting service.

Individualised, specialised consulting

Choosing Environments Where Young People Flourish

Within our educational consulting service, we work with young people with a variety of needs. Some young people require schools with a high level of pastoral care to support them with mental health challenges. Neurodiverse young people flourish best in schools that understand and cater to the way they perceive and interact with the world.Ā

Education plays a profound role in shaping young people’s well-being and futures. When young people have additional needs, finding the right educational environment is fundamental.

Collaborative Treatment and Global Partners

Across our consulting division, we embrace collaborative planning and practice. We work alongside families, young people, and treatment teams to establish families’ needs and collectively evaluate and choose the best educational environment for each young person.

We often partner with global experts in the area of a school to gain an additional perspective in the consultation process.

ADHD & ASD Placements

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can make it difficult for a young person to learn, create, socialise and develop in a normal school environment.Ā

Children and adolescents with ADHD may find standard classroom environments too distracting and learn better with shorter lessons or more breaks. They may also require extra support in developing time management, organisation and planning skills.

Autistic young people flourish in classrooms that cater to their experience of the world. They may benefit from lessons that use non-verbal communication as well as or instead of verbal dialogue, and be overwhelmed by the sensory stimulation of a typical classroom. Unexpected changes and inconsistencies between teaching styles and teacher expectations can also be stressful and overwhelming.

ASD and ADHD placements involve finding a school that can cater to a young person’s needs and emphasise their strengths, supporting them to build fulfilling futures.

Celebrating strengths and diversity

Our Approach to Neurodiversity

Although diagnoses of ASD and ADHD contain the word ā€˜disorder’, these neurodevelopmental conditions are not deficits but different ways of interacting with the world that come with strengths and challenges. In a society that’s often structured to meet the needs of neurotypical people, inclusive environments allow neurodiverse young people to thrive and flourish.
