Our Philosophy
The Wave was founded by a team passionate about young people’s mental health and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children, adolescents, young adults and families from around the globe.
We seek to create a life experience for young people and families, connecting the highest standards of clinical care with education, dynamic therapeutic practice and an international gap-year experience.
No young person should feel unseen, overlooked or left behind
What We Believe
At The Wave, we believe in:
- inclusion, fairness and exemplary treatment for all young people, regardless of their presenting symptoms
- accurate diagnosis without labels
- collaborative treatment without coercion, co-formed by mental health professionals, young people and families
- early intervention and opportunities for residential care without strict inclusion criteria or ‘cut-off’ points
- challenging implicit and explicit mental health stigma
- interpersonal relationships, including family, friendships and communities, as a foundation of wellbeing
- treatment environments and programs that reflect the needs of neurodiverse young people and celebrate their strengths

Learning Together
The Wave sets the standard for child and adolescent psychiatry in Asia and worldwide. We’re committed to an ongoing process of learning, questioning, listening and creating, transforming mental health care for the next generations.
We collaborate with the Malaysian Psychological Association, PSIMA, in developing eating disorder policies, educational initiatives and guidance for psychiatrists, psychologists, dieticians and other professionals.
We’re passionate about sharing our knowledge and experience with colleagues in education, mental health and social work, embracing open networks of communication and collaboration.

Our Vision
We imagine a future with accessible, exemplary mental health care and eating disorder treatment for families from all parts of the world. Through The Wave, Malaysia, and our eating disorder treatment space in Dubai, we create a part of this vision, transforming young lives and realising hopes and dreams.
The Wave has provided me with the ability to feel calm with the secure feeling that they are a team of professionals who know exact what my daughter needs. It has not been easy and continues to be a challenging journey.
The consistent communication through WhatsApp, phone calls, in-person and virtual family therapy sessions and weekly report have made being halfway across the world feel as if I am as part of my daughter’s treatment as I possibly can.
I had a great experience when I was on The Wave. It was one of the best experiences in my life. I enjoy all the sessions conducted by the team. I never had a chance to speak in group, specially with friends from other countries before.
