Making a Difference

Our Philosophy

Every aspect of our trauma-focused treatment programs for young people is designed to support planning and building for a better future – laying the groundwork for a successful, happy life – which we achieve through seven core elements.

The Wave was created by a team that is passionate about Global Mental Health and determined to make a difference in the lives of teenagers and young adults who have additional needs.

Our programs are designed to create a life experience for young people and their families that connects the highest standards in medical care and psychiatric treatment with education, dynamic therapeutic practice and an international GAP-year experience.

No young person should feel unseen, overlooked or left behind

What We Believe

We firmly believe that no young person should feel unseen, overlooked or left behind because of the internal and external challenges that mental health concerns can bring.

We believe in inclusion, in fairness and in exemplary treatment for all young people, regardless of their presenting issues.

We believe in diagnosis without labels, informed treatment planning and the valuable role of the family in treatment.

We believe that teenagers and young adults need early treatment interventions and that no young person should have to ‘prove’ that they need residential care.

We believe in opening doors. We help our young people to find their place in life, to access experiences, challenge beliefs, look at implicit stigma and value connection.

My time at The Wave was one of the best experiences in my life. I participated in many activities, learnt new life skills and made friends from other countries. It opened my eyes and gave me new knowledge and experience to be a better person. Thank you, The Wave, for giving me the best memory ever.

We love sharing our experience and we love learning

Collaboration

At The Wave, we embrace open networks and set the standard for excellence in adolescent and family mental health care in Asia. We continue to collaborate with PSIMA in the development of eating disorders policies, education and guidance for psychiatrists, psychologists, dieticians and allied professionals.

We love sharing our experience and we love learning. We are always happy to talk with our colleagues in education, mental health and social work to share our knowledge. We are also more than happy to be contacted with training opportunities for our team to take part in.

We are always open to listen, to learn, to share and to inspire.

Exemplary, accessible treatment

Our Vision for the Future

Our vision for the future is to create accessible mental health and eating disorder treatment in outstanding destinations for families from every corner of the globe. We will continue to raise the bar in the standards of family and adolescent therapy.
